Maui and the sun

                     Maui and the sun

A long time ago there lived a man name Maui. The people in his village was so mad because they had not have enough time to eat, hunt or fish Maui said "That sun is going to fast." He called out his brothers and his brothers came out in the dark "we need to slow the sun" said Maui "That is impossible" said his brothers "no it is not only can make strong flax ropes then we can do it" said maui. As the brothers were making the fireproof flax ropes Maui went to go and get his grandfathers bone he cured and sharpen it once they were finish the ropes they set off to the suns bed hole.

As they were walking towards the suns hole they made a wall of clay so the sun won't see him Maui said "throw the flax ropes when I say ok" "yes" said his brothers. The ground was shaking then the sun rose "now" said Maui the brothers throw the flax ropes onto the suns flames maui beat up the poor sun the sun shouted "stop do you know that I am nearly dead"!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maui said let him go. The sun went by slowly. So that was my version of Maui and the sun.

In the beggining

Along time ago their lived six brothers and there mum and father.The six brothers were called Tu was guardian war and man ,Tane was guardian of the forest  ,Tawhirimatea was the guardian of the wind and storms,Rongo was the of  peace and agriculture,Tangaroa was the guardian sea and ,Haumia was the guardian of spirits and uncultivatead food.The father was called Ranginui the god of sky and the mother was the called papatuanuku the god of the forest.

How Maui slowed the sun down                              

Once a upon time there lived a man called Maui.The city that Maui lived in the
sun was moving so fast that they didn't have time to go fishing  and time to
hunt.When the sun came up it just raced  across  the sky and the people were
so mad because the days were short night were longer and Maui didn't have time
to eat his food.Maui talk to the brother in the darkness how to slow that sun
down.

I have a plan to slow that sun so we have plenty of to catch the sun.They started to walk in
the dark so the sun couldn't  see them.When they felt the warmness of the hot fire from where
the sun rises from the biggest hole.Quick  get some clay and make a wall to hide behind and he

stayed still like a  tuatara.Do not jump out  only when I say so Maui saw the eyes of the sun and soon he saw the  big white hot teeth and Maui said now brother and the ropes over his hair.


Stop said the sun can't you see that I'm  nearly dead the sun moved this way and that way

but he can't get out Maui said loosen the ropes.The sun drifted slowly across the sky.

The amazing fun run.

Yesterday was so cool cause we had our school fun run. I was running in the 8 years old and I had butterfly's in my stomach, It was kind of nervous in the start cause the horn was  like a fireman's truck. So I will tell you about the race so when the start was scary cause you don't know when it is going to happen. At the end I came first and my nana was so proud of me that she could not stop talking about it. So that was my fun run.

Many year's ago there was   Papatuanuanuku  the earth mother and Ranginui the sky father. They had many children like Tu Tane Rongo Tawhiri Tangaroa Hamia.One day they decicded some thing must be done.tu said let's kill our partent's.tawhirimatuta said we should leave thing's how it should be.Hamia said yes.Tane said we should push them apart. Tu went first he hed and he hod but he could not do it.so Tangaro tired but he could not do it.so tane  had an idear.he liad on his back and pushed so hard light flew into the sky now people say Ranginui the sky father and Papatuanuku the earth mother.written by Shyla and loseli
